Santa Clara, CA – May 29, 2003 – Atypon Systems, Inc, a leading developer of adaptive electronic publishing solutions, today announced that Annual Reviews, the premier publisher of scientific review literature, is a new client.
Annual Reviews will begin using Atypon's electronic publishing solution with the launch of their revised site on June 1, 2003. Using Atypon's Literatum Online platform will allow for effective and efficient delivery of content, including the new Annual Reviews Electronic Back Volume Collection—an online collection of Annual Reviews back volume content dating to the first volume of the Annual Review of Biochemistry® in 1932.
The Atypon Literatum Online platform—a full service adaptive information platform for electronic publishing—is a cost-effective content-loading and online-hosting solution designed to fit the needs of publishers of all sizes. Literatum was first created for publisher services such as Blackwell Synergy and CrossRef.
Annual Reviews gave three primary reasons for selecting Atypon technology and service:
1. Enhanced features and functionality for librarians and scholars
2. A talented and responsive development and customer service team
3. A cost-effective pricing policy
"We are delighted to have the confidence of Annual Reviews, the world's leading publisher of scientific review literature," said Atypon CEO Georgios Papadopoulos. "We look forward to our ongoing partnership with Annual Reviews—currently a key synthesizer of scientific information."
Annual Reviews has contracted with Atypon to take primary responsibility for hosting its 20,000+ articles-managing state-of-the-art services, hardware and software upgrades, security, and complex content delivery. The relationship will also ensure that Annual Reviews has access to the many innovations currently in development at Atypon.
"Annual Reviews is continually looking for the best ways to present our content to our user community," said Steve Castro, Director of Marketing and Sales at Annual Reviews. "Atypon's Literatum Online platform offers a sensible array of user features and a streamlined production pipeline, allowing our staff extraordinary freedom to create new content collections, business models, and promotional opportunities."
Since 1996, Atypon Systems, Inc. has focused on providing software and services to the information industry.
